Alexandria's Weekly Electronics Recycling Program
You Can Recycle Those Electronics Every Week!
The City provides weekly drop-off recycling service for electronics at its household hazardous waste collection site. The City accepts computers, televisions, VCRs, printers, stereos, cellular phones, and many other types of electronics (no appliances including air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves, etc). For a comprehensive list of acceptable electronics click here. Electronics can be dropped off at 3600 Wheeler Avenue every Monday (except holidays) from 10am to 6pm. Starting November 5, 2007, the new Electronics and Household hazardous waste collection hours will be Mondays 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. UPDATE: Saturday collection is now available from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

This program is open to City of Alexandria residents only. Proof of residency will be checked. Electronics from businesses cannot be accepted at this time.
Businesses may recycle computers and electronic items by exploring the following options:
- Turtle Wings provides computer and electronic recycling services to businesses and also have a free drop-off day for residents.
- Electronics Industry Alliance.
- Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Computer and Electronics Recycling resources.
- Electronicsrecycling.org. This web site offers a wealth of electronics recycling information representing all industry work groups (e.g., collection, de-manufacturing, refurbishment/resell, research, recycling). The site also includes a searchable database of computer/electronic companies and events.
- Keep It Green — A joint project of ServiceSource, Inc. and Computer Donation Management, Inc. operates a computer drop-off program out of ServiceSource's Employment Center in Alexandria, Virginia and specializes in protecting our environment through the recycling of computer equipment. A fee is charged for monitors.
